A galaxy is like a family which holds billions of stars that held together in space with the pull of the gravity. Galaxy is not spread out evenly thought out space. They are more like sheets, strings and some times in bigger or smaller groups like families. These large families are usually called clusters. The Galaxy "clusters" can be up to thousands of Members that all held together. Many "clusters" are grouped into bigger families that is call "THE SUPER CLUSTER".
Here is an image of The Super Cluster!!!!
This is an image of a SUPER CLUSTER.
The existence of a "super clusters" indicates that the galaxies in our beautiful universe are not uniformly distributed. Most of them are drawn together in groups and clusters. As each groups containing up to some dozens of galaxies and clusters up to several thousand galaxies. These groups and clusters and additional isolated galaxies in turn form even larger structures that form the super cluster. Super cluster complexes, walls or sheets, that may span between several millions light-years up to 10 billion light- years over covering more than 5% of the observable universe. Observations of super clusters can help us by telling something about the initial condition of the universe when these super clusters were created. The directions of the rotational axes of galaxies within which super clusters may also give us insight into the formation process of galaxies early in the history of the Universe. |
One of the world greatest Astronomers of 20th century. His name was Edwin Hubble . He was born in 1889 and died in 1953. Edwin identified individual stars in the near by galaxy called M33. He also showed that it is like a family of stars not so far way from the Milky Way Galaxy. This information proved that there are galaxies beyond own world. He wanted to show that these galaxies are moving away.
